East Quantoxhead Village Hall provides the only social centre in East Quantoxhead, a small rural farming village situated on the edge of the Quantock Hills in West Somerset. It has approximately 120 residents of all age categories, many of whom work in and around the village. Due to the isolated nature of the village, the Village Hall (built over 100 year ago) plays a large part in the lives of the villagers, with a twice weekly yoga group, a weekly craft group and a monthly produce market and cafe. It also regularly hosts children's parties and other special events such as live music and theatre, regular bingo evenings and an annual harvest supper.
Many of the activities in the hall are used to raise money for charity. Thus the village hall provides a place within the village where residents are able to regularly meet, interact and raise money for many good causes. It is the social centre of the village, helping to avoid the social isolation that can be so prevalent in rural communities.
The Village hall is managed and run by a voluntary committee, currently consisting of 11 members, including Chair person, treasurer and a caretaker. We do not have any source of income other than monies raised by the committee through fundraising activities.
We urgently need to replace our 104yr old roof.
We need your help so that we can continue to keep our doors open
Thank you for your support and good luck!
